Just a five-minute stroll from the ocean, the location of this decade-old beach house in Newport, Rhode Island was ideal. The decor, however, didn’t suit the new owner’s design sensibility. “The house has a great open layout and was in very good condition,” says interior designer Desiree Burns, who bought the home with her husband, “but the aesthetic had that typical coastal vibe, with baby blue and seashells everywhere.”
