Our Guide To Creating Your Ultimate Work From Home Office
The office isn’t what it used to be and that’s a good thing!
Cubicles are a thing of the past and for many. Most of us find ourselves working from home. This can bring on challenges of its own. It’s easy to find ourselves distracted or even worse, unmotivated at times. We want to help you to be the most successful version of yourself, right from the comforts of your home.
Here are a few tips from our interior design team on how to create the perfect at home, work environment:
1. Choose A Quiet Space: This can be the most challenging part when considering which space to use in your home. If possible, choose a room/area in which you would have minimal distractions. One with natural sunlight and a window to crack open is ideal. What better than a little fresh air and the birds chirping in the background to boost that mid-day motivation!
2. Find The Right Chair: Your chair is where you will spend most of your workday. We always think of back support, but our bottoms need a little love too! It’s important to balance aesthetics with comfortability. Most office chairs can be an eyesore, so we have included a few links below to some of our favorites. Your tush will thank us!
3. Pin Board: This is a great way to keep you organized and increase productivity. Seeing your work up on a wall allows you to stay focused on what’s most important that day, or week. We’ve all heard the saying “out of sight, out of mind.” The ability to see, and touch those tasks, evokes your brain to keep it moving. This will surely help you stay motivated!
4. Storage: It’s important to stay organized to help maximize your productivity. The slightest distraction can throw you off course. You will want to ensure you keep your daily essentials easily accessible. Drawers, cabinets and shelves can neatly store your documents, materials, and supplies within arm’s reach. This is especially important when working from a small condo in a city like Boston. It’s easy for clutter to pile up so make sure to stay on top of it.
5. Decor: Take the time to really personalize your space. What inspires you? What makes you smile? We hope you love what you do every day but let’s be honest, work is still work! Surround yourself with pieces that inspire you and make you feel good. We suggest you keep it simple. A few coffee table books, some fun wall art and small accessories will have you back to your happy place in no time.
